Here is tonight's homework. Adjective phrases modify a NOUN. Adverb phrases modify a VERB.
Hey Guys! Here is the link to Cinderella we did in class. Take some time to practice the elements of a story. Can you name them without looking?
Hello Sweet Kiddos! I thought you could use some fun to go along with practicing those prepositions. Here is a link to play Battleship while answering questions about prepositions. Here is a little help. A prepositional phrase that modifies a NOUN is called and adjective phrase. It tells what kind, which one, how many, or how much. A preposition phrase that is used to modify a verb, an adjective, or an adverb is called an adverb phrase. It tells when, where, why, how, how often, how long.
Here is a link to a good list of prepositions, OR you can use the green slip I passed out in class. Have fun! Don't let them sink your battleship! I can't believe Thursday is already over. How is this week almost over? It flew by like a 747. Get it kids? LIKE A 747? What type of figurative language is that? We've spent the week looking at figurative language in our culture. The GEICO commercials are a big hit. Happy as a camel on Wednesday. The kids came up with some great examples of their own: Happy as a kangaroo in a bounce house, Happy as Santa Clause in a bakery, Happy as Mrs. Deal on Friday at 4:05 (my personal favorite) I've been totally impressed this week! I hope that continues all year. It's been a fun week of review, but get ready because prepositions start Monday!
Wow, what a week! We survived meeting after meeting, cleaning our rooms, setting everything up just the way we want it, tons of rain and a few LONG power outages. Will we all be ready for the first day of school? Probably not. I know I always think of things that could have been done while I am lying in bed late at night trying to fall asleep. I mean, come on, I'm still trying to decide what to wear for the first day of school. Do I dress up? Do I go a little casual? Nice heels or comfy Keds? Keds sound really good. I have to make a good impression right? All I hope is my kids enjoy my teaching style and learn bunches this year. It's going to be a great one. See you Monday!
